That diechip confirms that this coin is a Chinese counterfeit.

My archives have photos of dozens of different LWC dates with this same diechip (including 1911-S). Interestingly all but two dates (1922 plain, and 1955 DDO) are S mint fakes.

I went to my photo archives and found another 1911-S with the die chip on the left wheat stalk. The date on your coin was not altered from another date, but was struck that way (defective).

Note that the second one in the date of the fake coins is slightly smaller than the other ones. On a genuine 1911-S, it is slightly larger.

Nice work NSS! For me, the MM is off and the date just looks funky. Also, the portrait has that soft look known to the Chinese fakes.
