This one is tough. The date position seems to be too far left, using the 2nd picture. The first picture looks possibly a little better lined up, but it still looks too far left. It doesn't line up with the denticles exactly like the S-1. I'm leaning towards no, but maybe someone will have an overlay so stay tuned.

Think I see the Cud on the rim where it's suppose to be.

This is a pic of the rim from a original photo that made it suspect for me........ ( I think I said that right)

Here's the problem I'm seeing. This is comparing it to an 1888/7 of mine in about the same condition.

The date position has to be exactly the same. Now I know the angles and rotations are a bit different, so this could be what is throwing it off, but yours looks a little farther left, especially the 1.

The Cud on the rim is very hard or nearly impossible to see with examples that are this worn, so I don't think that is reliable. What we need is a better shot of the bottom of the last 8. What I find best is to shine some light from the bottom of the coin upwards so that the light catches the blob of the 7 sticking out from the 8. See my picture below..

Can you try something like this? I see something on your coin in the same spot, but it's just not clear enough at the moment.

Correct, numerals do not line up correctly with the denticles in the subject example. Since the rim Cud is not a reliable guide, I find the denticles to be most helpful in identifying lower grade issues. On the correct S-1 overdate, there is a full denticle centered almost perfectly below the lower loops of both the first and second 8's. Quick read.
