Nice original circulated & relatively problem-free coin. I want to say VG, but the reverse might hold it back a bit due to the uneven wear. CCF, what do you think?

I agree with G06. The obverse makes VG8 though so it's close overall but not quite there.

As some may recall, this '88-S coin is quite an oddball - the first high mintage Liberty Seated quarter released after a decade of tiny mintage collector-only issues. The series ended only three years later with the introduction of the Barber coins. Remarkable that this example stayed in circulation throughout its useful life.
