Satin-Ish Finish On 2016 Toonie - Coin Community Forum

wilsonwu89 Pillar of the Community Canada 707 Posts	Posted 11/16/2016 01:28 am I was going through all my 2016 Baby gift sets (which I bought a lot of with the 3-coin deal from RCM) One toonie stood out amongst all the others. It has this satin-y finish. Usually 2016 toonie have a mirror finish, but the finish on this particular toonie has a sheen that is reminiscent of 1967 Circulation coinage Does this mean my coin was a first strike or something? I don't think the coin will show up well on a photo but anyone in Markham is welcome to come and take a look at it :) If I were to grade it with someone, what are some potential remarks it would have for being different? But in this case, I removed the coin and the finish on this toonie is just different from any other toonie I've seen. I'm going to attempt to take a clear pic tomorrow and scan it. When you shine it under a light, the entire surface just glows as this beautiful satin surface. The Queen's bust side looks like a normal toonie however. When placed beside a normal toonie, the difference is stark. The normal toonie has a completely mirror finish.
