I got interviewed last Tuesday and there were still people to interview they said. I think they said they'd call me in a week or two.

I'll probably email them tomorrow to see where they are at in the search.

I am always volunteering to do things like that. We have to count all of our rolls of coin that we get in by hand. I am always the first to try and get all the rolls so that I can "count" them. How nice I can look at every coin as I count them.

They all love me too, cause I always wanna buy the foreign coins when they come in. Fixes a lot of the issues of what to do with the coins that way. I normally am willing to buy all the things they think are worthless.

Well good luck with it, hope it goes well for you!

If you get the job at the bank you may want to make it clear that you are a coin collector and may want to purchase some coins from them. Note that although banks are supposed to be Federally controlled, each bank is still an organization on it's own and may have personal restrictions, rules, regulations, etc. As a teller you may want to put aside certain coins you wish to purchase later. This practice may not be acceptable at that bank. Some banks may have a rule that ALL money received must be first put into a cash drawer where it can be counted by and independant individual. Cash of any kind not in that location could be construded as a felony at some banks. Putting coins aside even for a few minutes may not be acceptable although you may want to replace with some of your own later of right away. The main thing is whenever you attempt to acquire a job where cash of any kind is handeled you may want to make it clear as to you intensions as a coin collector.

You can still put coin aside while keeping it with all the other money. Such as if you have nickels you wanna buy, you put them at the beginning of your coin tray where those wont be the ones that you give out.

You aren't allowed to just change the cash out of your drawer, but what you can do is you trade the money with another teller between teller drawers for the same face values. Then you end up actually buying the coin from the other teller. Like with my paper currency I paper clip the bills I want to buy. They still stay in the tray and stay right with the rest of what ever that denomination is, but I still know what it is I want to buy. Or what I will do is I will put a mark on the strap band, to mark the bills at the bottom of the strap are ones I want to buy. There are ways to mark and save your money you want with still staying in the lines of being legal.

LOL I learned that the hard way, At the end of the day, I would count my drawer, then just swap the coins or notes I wanted to keep with ones in my pocket... I did that one night and the boss walked up behind me when I was swapping money, I had to explain to him that I was trading coins and putting the equal value back in the drawer... take my advice and what just_carl said, make sure they know you collect coins and arnt just freeloading off their profit.. It might save you some embarrassment!

Here's the thing. You do not buy money from your own drawer, you sell the money to another teller and then buy the money from the other teller. At my bank you could get fired for swapping money out of your drawer. Thats why you sell it to another teller and buy it from them.

i usually swap coins out of my drawer with little problem, since selling such small amounts would raise suspicion in itself, if I'm exchanging bills however I always sell to another teller and buy it back again with my own money. The tricks with the coin machine took a long time for me to figure out how to do without getting into trouble. My advice to you if you get hired is to keep the coin switching to a minimum at least at first, my boss has scholded me many a time for looking through coin rolls instead of doing what he deems to be 'work'.
Play it safe and you'll be fine

This got really easy for me. Since we now have to count the rolls of coin by hand when they come in, I get to look through them all when I count them. The other tellers know I love to look through the coin so when they get coin in I buy it for my drawer (swap coin from one teller to another) so I get to count it all. So since we have to count them anyway they cant say I'm not doing my "work". hehe Just happens I love my work and enjoy doing what the other tellers really dont wanna do. It is great!
