Post strike damage, before release form the Mint.

After the strike, and still within the Mint, I am at a loss to guess how this damage may have been sustained, or how it was missed, being that it is from a PL set.

Maybe the RCM isn't trying as hard as they used to with quality control, with PL sets.

The scientific term for the malady is a "ding" .. it was struck or caught on something after the dies physically made the coin.
