I had a bad experience with the blue Whitman folder for nickels. When I was young I had alot of nickels in one and after many years they corroded(not toned) where the edges touched the blue paper. Needless to say I will never buy one again.

Quick update: I added the 1977 proof from the cracked set: I found my very first 1965! Unfortunately, it looks like this: It's currently in acetone but, I don't think it will help much. I really don't know why '65s have been so hard to find. The mintage isn't super low compared to earlier years. Maybe it has something to do with not having Denver minted coins that year (making total mintage cut in half) and the '64 nickel explosion. I also purchased a blank Whitman nickel album page to start on proofs. Through the generosity of Crazyb0, I received a surprise package with a very nice 1940 upgrade, a damaged 1938-d (filled the hole though) and three proofs: 1958, 1959 and 1961. Since my album does not have proof-specific holes for pre-1971's, I got the blank page and will be cracking some sets here and there to add to that. Other than a couple other slight upgrades, that's the current state of affairs.

I think they were still minting 1964 dated nickels well into 1966 or 1967.

UPDATE: A couple of substantial things have happened in the last month. First, I got a very nice surprise shipment from Crazyb0 (many thanks!) that allowed me to fill 10 holes and one proof hole. The shipment also included quite a few definite upgrades for me that I haven't gotten to yet. I also made a few purchases including a mixed lot of various dates in cello cut out of mint sets, the 2003 proof and a lot of the 1968-1998 proofs. I cracked the 1999-2002 proof sets I had and added those. I got one minor upgrade from rolls (1991 I think). So, at this point, there are only five empty holes to go in the business strike realm and the ever-present search for upgrades and older proofs. The extra page is for proofs only and will hold 1941-1970. I do plan on getting the '38-'40 proofs and major varieties (slabbed if possible) eventually to create a beast! I know these pics don't show individual coins well but, here is the current state of affairs (before upgrades mentioned earlier):

Awesome .... I hate to tell you this but there's no turning back now. You're a goner for sure. What holes do you have to fill yet? Which are your must upgrade dates?

The holes left are still the same as in the previous update. I've been distracted. I still have yet to do upgrades with what Crazyb0 sent so I'm not sure about that except for '38-D which is a damaged hole-filler. On top of the MS65 '44-S I just got and posted elsewhere, I won a PCGS MS65 '42-S today that I'm hoping is a rim-to-rim reverse die crack. If not, I'll still be satisfied with those two "$" mm coins. I definitely took the red pill on this one. I've recently decided to start selling other things that I'm not interested in collecting or creating sets of so I can be more focused. Funds are limited and I'm spread too thin on types. Edit: I did see how quickly you jumped on those War Nickels, NickelGuy (23 minutes ). I would have been sad if he only had one set but, I'm the reason he had 49 sets and not 50.

I almost made an offer on them all but wanted to live another day. Wife would have killed me. I only got 2 sets myself. Thinking of getting a couple of those Capital Wartime holders for them. PM sent.
