The newest addition came on Monday. The haze on the reverse over Monticello is from the slab. So, forget what I said earlier about the order of acquisitions. It will just be a surprise. Oh, and this is also my 7,000th post.

I know this is a gray area between proof and business, but this coin is the most perfect coin I have seen in person aside modern proofs.

Once the funds arrive tomorrow, I have an opportunity to get a nice 1942 Type I proof w/ Green Bean for a decent price. It would be my first CAC coin.

Man I must say, you really jumped into this set with both feet and really maximized your efforts! Although it always seems to be a work in progress, I know that's a good feeling of accomplishment! ! BTW: Someone else may have already asked this question. Heck, I may have already asked this question I forget. Is your avatar a part of your set?

Quote: Is your avatar a part of your set? It wasn't planned, but unofficially, yes. It's not actually in the album. It's a 1958 Black Beauty that Crazyb0 sent me and he actually sent me a 1959 example recently that will go into a capsule to tag along. As far as the '42 Type I proof, I may have to wait a bit longer, but how much longer is as yet undetermined.

I received it today and am pleased. I have a few coins I would like to image (including this), so I will try to get my own pics added in a few days. Thanks for reading!

You have certainly been relentless, focused and tenacious with this set over the past "almost" two years. Your commitment and dedication is evident! !

Thanks guys! Quote: You have certainly been relentless, focused and tenacious with this set over the past "almost" two years. I essentially "finished" what I set out to do by the end of last year, but I decided to make this a more complete set (and I became infatuated with proof coins). I understood that adding things like I am now would take longer, but is certainly doable, budget-wise. That's why I settled on the PF66 grade for these slabbed coins. The Jeff proofs are doable for me in 66 back to the beginning, 67 not so much. For now, 2003 is the limit because of design changes, but I have room in the extra album page to add all or most examples of the 2004-2005 nickels and those are pleasant. I will shift my focus to other types before moving past 2005 nickels (if it ever happens). The most significant coins left to get are the four earliest proofs and the '97 Special Strike. Beyond that are BU upgrades for mid-50s and back (minus War Nickels and a few others I already have). I enjoy varieties and errors and have a few, but the major varieties for the Jefferson nickel will have to wait for now. They will always be on my mind as well as that famous counterfeit! After those goals, I will probably shift that focus and energy to completing LMCs through 2009 (again, design change decided the cutoff point for me). That album is already ~95% complete with only a few holes, upgrades and pre-'64 proofs needed. Piece o' cake! Then, that focus will shift to the Wheat album. I don't really want to think about that one at the moment! Although, I do have a very solid start on it thanks to CCF members.
