If there are errors or varieties, that may inspire my first real step in CRH.

I've been thinking about it and going back and forth in my head and then a thought came! So after 225 years of the cent, Philly gets to put a mint mark and only for one year? Could this be (like they didn't tell anyone beforehand it was to be) that it's because there will be NO 2018 cents? As in, we're going to have to get better at rounding?

I don't see a no MM cent for 2017 because the MM is applied to the master die. John1

I will start hoarding just in case. I cannot wait for these to come out. The biggest problem I have, is new UNC rolls have to be ordered at the bank here on post in Korea. :( I will probably have to get someone at home to mail me a box.

Quote:Mint markless Struck Through Grease examples, I'm sure one or two will pop up Ain't that the truth! Guys, I'm pretty excited about these because I now have a new reason to check my change. The idea of finding a "no P" cent is tantalizing and plays right into my interest in fantastical possibilities. So, if you could get a full box for face would you? I think I would. Selling them by the roll would still net a small profit overall . . . . . well, maybe.

Quote: It would be great if San Francisco and West Point would strike mintmarked cents for circulation. Funny you mention this, because many of our non-marked cents from the 1970's and 1980's were indeed minted in those two locations to meet the demand not satisfied by Philly alone. Mint marks were left off to prevent their hoarding.

I knew that San Francisco and West Point has struck mintmark-less cents. In a college job as a cashier in 1978 when I was living in San Jose, that summer we got a whole lot of shiny BU 1978 cents, and I'm thinking, are we importing from Philly? I had no idea that these were really "S" cents.
Mintmarkless cents were easily encountered through 1982. Then in 1983 it was all "D" cents.
I learned some years later what was really going on.

I should have mentioned, "S" cents from 1968 through 1974 were frequently encountered when I was living in the Bay Area.

I'm just wondering how many threads we're going to see about "Found a 2016 NO P cent! I'm rich!"
