The last a in America is obliterated and there is a crater in the rev rays. Was this just struck through something? Thanks.

Here's my 1926s Peace dollar that looks like it was Struck Through near the Mint Mark, however, with the crack showing, I'm leaning towards a Flawed Planchet Error..

Both of these Peace dollars appear to have PMD, not strike throughs.
Rest in Peace

Perhaps. The 26-P is in an old NGC fatty holder labeled MS-63.

On the original coin, the obvious PMD around and near the A in America seems too much of a coincidence to occur in exactly the same area as a strike-through.

Sorry, can you elaborate? Maybe I'm just too ignorant to understand but it escapes me. What is too much of a coincidence?

Edit: Are you saying it's just damaged?

It is now in hand and it does appear to have been a strike from something. I don't know what would cause a wack like that.
