Hi there. I'm born in Europe now living in USA so I don't know much about this subject. I got this cent that sure looks different so I was wondering why? ..is it an error?..does it has any value?.. thank you

Your coin is zinc plated with a thin layer of copper. Someone heated the coin with a torch which partially melted the zinc core, it is damaged.

A missing letter is most likely the result of grease on the die. Those can be fun to find but would not be considered a valuable error -- especially on a circulated and damaged coin.

Keep hunting -- there are lots of fun things to find!

Thank you to all..I find it very interesting and kinda addictive. I just spent hours going trought my piggy bank and just found 2 of the 1992 D now I don't know if they are Close AM or not lol. I need magnifying glasses

Yes, one of those "make yer own error coins" , see every now and then at online auctions...always a raw coin and touted as a "new variety"! Still have that oceanfront investment property in Nevada for sale at reasonable rates, will divide, etc.

Yes -- a lot of us are addicted to one degree or another.

And yes, you need a good magnification lens. A decent jeweler's loupe isn't too expensive.
