Couple of dings on the obverse, road damage on the reverse. Someone picked up the face up lucky penny, but not before it was dragged around a bit.

so the doubling look on the d is because of the physical wear?

Ah, you didn't specify, so all of us were addressing the rough reverse. Since you have the coin in hand, you have a better look at the mint mark. Here's a link to repunched mint marks in 1981D cents. Maybe you have a match. http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/...pe=mm&page=0

we would need a closeup of the mint mark to make a judgement of anything

with Druu, a sharper closeup is needed for definite ID.

It does have potential for an RPM, looking at the serifs, but could be 1 of 5 or more. Check out Copper coins!

I know the reverse was irrelevant for the obv but I dont like to chase pictures if I'm looking for help. I have a microscope usb in tomorrow and I will update with other pictures. Thanks for help.
