When I was selling once upon a time I used BLACKWHITE for 1-9+0 such that a $35.99 item was written as AKTT. Nice and easy to remember, and works especially well if you avoid pricing in common cent increments such as .x5, .x9 and .x0. Nowadays I use a simpler system to record prices paid.
