You should be able to get a proof set for $27.

Information easily found on google or ebay. Unless someone has made the purchase of a 1958 proof set extremely recently, our user information is outdated. For what it's worth, PCGS lists the 1958 proof set at $35: http://www.PCGS.com/prices/pricegui...l.aspx?c=932

(I'm waiting for the next response to bid it up another four bucks.)

Whatever you do, buy it in person and pay up if necessary for a choice set.

My semi-local coin shop (Phil's in Wichita) has the 1958 proof mint set in stock for $28.29 and they do sell online. That should give you a ball park figure. I saw others say $27 and $31, so that's the range.

Not the best photo, but here is my 1956 birth year proof set.

A 1958 MINT set on the other hand will cost considerably more. Close to $400 (Last year of the double sets)
