Crazyb0 Rest in Peace 10197 Posts	Posted 02/11/2017 9:52 pm Khasil, it sure looks like a 1997P-1DO-001 as listed on http://www.coppercoins.com. you need to "attribute" it according to the markers as listed on the page for that one. The description say there doubling on ear top by curls as well but I think your coin is too worn there and also there are others points that may indicate if this is it. Your grade may only be a VF/EF @$10-15.00, but...check it out for a side by side compare on pix. Report this Post to the Staff

Slamnbass Pillar of the Community United States 3644 Posts	Posted 02/11/2017 10:40 pm I may not explain this perfectly but another thing I always look for is notice on your coin at the top of where the damage is it comes to a V a definite start point where the damage took place and on the 001 doubled ear there is no V or start point so to speak the doubling is just there and the line that seperates it just fades near the top of the doubling Edited by Slamnbass 02/11/2017 10:41 pm Report this Post to the Staff
Rackster Pillar of the Community United States 4809 Posts	Posted 02/11/2017 10:59 pm I first saw this type of damage on a couple 1984 LMCs when I first started looking for varieties. Folks here helped me to differentiate between MD and DD. Since then, I see this type of damage fairly often, especially for a few dates, but especially 1984. It might be that this is the highest point of the relief so when the tool wobbles at the top, it's prone to create damage in that area (just a theory). Report this Post to the Staff
