I am pretty sure that Lasik does not work by modifying your genes.

Always use a simple 7X B&L for everyday work, occasionally a 10X for detail, that's it.

I use a 10x loupe for quick looks and I use an AmScope microscope that has 10-60x for identifying the die marriages of the coins. The microscope has a camera that I can switch out to determine the exact date and mintmark placement for identification of my Seated Liberty coins.

I use a 25 mm diameter, 12x cloth examination lens.

It is of Japanese origin, made perhaps in the 1930's, and seems to be of at least equal in quality to the best German lenses made before WW2.

Three elements in two groups.
This results in no distortion, zero color aberration, and about a 12mm depth of field.
With such a large depth of field, it is possible to hold a coin at 45 degrees to the line of vision, and still have the whole of the coin in sharp focus.

Cloth examination lenses are used for the examination of warp and weft in cloth, to check that the loom which has just woven a cloth material is working correctly.

+++++++++++++----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+++++++++++++

It would be interesting to know what the professional Third Party Graders use. I understand that they do their grading at an industry standard of 10x.

Dorado - I find your images somewhat jarring, to be honest.

I'm sorry if it irritates your pupils ... I have to adjust the image, with a little practice I will be better.
