This is a recent local coin shop purchase. The whitish gray areas on the coin in the picture are not present on the coin in hand, but some sort of photo artifact. Fully toned, with a faint trace of luster beneath. Coin shop grade on the 2x2 was XF.

though to grade this one due to the milk. its blurring key points on this coin. definitely a weak obverse strike. my dilemma is determining if this coin was circulated and the reverse wreath is milked out in the key areas. too me it looks lightly circulated based on these pics so i'll go with AU55.

is there any way you can get any better pics on this?

I got tired of the bad pictures even with my decent camera and I think I tossed the offending source now: the allegedly-60W "Daylight" ugly brown-hued CFL is gone and replaced with an interrogation-room bright white 100W incandescent bulb. Also got rid of the glass dome thing (it's a single bulb ceiling fan light.) Those CFL lights might be better for the environment, but they're ruining my pictures. I had been trying to offset it with my direct lighting, but that was just overexposing all of the photos.

Okay. Working with the new light, I took raw photos at 24MP using my 35MM lens and neutral balance. I then imported to Photoshop, cropped and pasted onto a black background, with no additional processing, and this is the result. Now I'm really confused. The rim is very weak on the obverse at D STA and directly across from that on the reverse the rim is missing and has weak or no dentition; I've seen that error before but forget the technical term for it, I don't think it's a clip. The strange, whitish gray areas on the coin are directly across from the weak rim area on the obverse and located directly AT the weak rim area on the reverse. Under a 10x loupe, the rims directly opposite the areas with weak or missing denticles appear to be pushed OUT a little bit, heading AWAY from the weak areas.

You tell me, my knowledge of error coins is minimal at best.

Also found out that the last 6 has been repunched or recut.

I thought it looked AU in hand compared to my slabbed AU examples so it's nice to see a bit of support!

based on the fact that the discoloration is in fact on the coin and the new pics. technically it should grade low AU but value may be compromised a little due to it. probably XF money would be about right

I paid $18 for it, so I think XF or AU are both ok.
