My seven year old says that the reverse is a lions head so at the moment that's what I'm going with. The coin is about 23mm across, a little smaller than a US quarter. What do I have here? Is there any current retail value to it? As always, thanks :) Edited by GABatGH 03/19/2017 12:05 am

Purports to be an issue of Leontini, Sicily. The bust would be Apollo.

GABatGH, can we get a pic of the edge, particularly around the protrusion above Apollo's head?

I took these using a little trick I figured out some time ago. I hold my loupe up against my cellphone camera and snap the picture. Instant macro camera.

Try and get a lighting environment that gives surround lighting instead of having a single light focus it all.

I should reserve comment as this isn't my area of collecting but the surfaces just don't look right to me. Although hard to see the edge also doesn't sit right with me either.

I'm far from an expert, but that protrusion looks like the result of a casting. But at least now I know what it is. I've got replicas that were still valuable, but I'm doubting that this is...

Hard to tell from a photo. Maybe it is just the lighting, but the edges look like they have been filed and somehow smoothed to cover up a casting seam.
The surface just doesn't look like a struck could should look. It has that classic soft and soapy look. I hope its real for your sake though.

Coin is too round, looks like casting bubbles on the surface, line around the edge, protrusion doesn't look like what original examples would look like. IMO not a genuine coin.
