Doctorwho2485 Valued Member New Zealand 292 Posts	Posted 03/21/2017 08:39 am Hi Everyone it's been awhile anyway just got this very nice Antoninianus of Empress Annia Cupressenia Herennia Etruscilla was Augusta (Sept. 249 - Jun. 251 AD) of the Roman Empire, wife of Emperor Decius, and mother of Emperors Herennius Etruscus and Hostilian. As with most third-century Roman Empresses, very little is known about her. Probably of senatorial family, she became regent on her son Hostilian, when Decius and Herennius were defeated and killed in the Battle of Abrittus to sink into obscurity after her husband and sons perished. It is assumed that her ancestors settled in Etrurian lands. Herennia married Decius probably before 230 and gained the title Augusta. I got it off ebay from 'RustyRomans' too. Pics. I have one that I got quite cheap: I don't have the reverse imaged because it was struck on dies so worn as to render it basically unidentifiable! (Hence the extremely limited bidding competition) I do feel very sorry for her, losing her husband and her oldest son, then her other son to plague just a few months later.
