Hello friends,

I received some hard news today that my (supposedly secure) job has been "budget cut".

Cutting to the chase, this was pretty poor timing and thus it's time to say goodbye to the side projects to free up some capital as a safety net. I am hoping to keep my core projects (the Indo Sassanians and Roman Imperials) intact, but I am probably letting half to three quarters go. Before I take what I can get on ebay, is there anyone here who is in the market for anything in particular?

Ah that is a bummer. The job market seems pretty strong right now (at least for technical positions) so hopefully you will land on your feet fairly quickly. Maybe consider taking a few deep breaths before undertaking a fire sale?

I'm sorry to hear this too. Keep your best and sell the rest!
Things will come around for you.
I was just looking at Taras, son of Poseidon riding on a dolphin coins.
Anything nice enough was quite "salty" though if you'll pardon the pun.

Very sorry to hear that, I had to do that one time and it was very hard to part with some long time collections. Hope you get back up on your feet again soon.

Give it a few weeks/months thought before you sell.

Yeah ,your all tense and nervous right now . Give yourself some time to think things out , you might not even have to sell your collection at all . When one door closes , another one opens .

We have the same sentence in Spain: "When God Closes a door, he opens a window".
I expect that this will be only a short interval

Thanks for the kind words, all

I am not planning on selling *everything* unless/until I absolutely must. I did buy a considerable number of coins specifically as an investment or to flip, so those are going for sure. Ditto with the lower grade Greek bronzes I don't look at, and the handful of medieval coins that don't really "fit" my collection. I also have a lot of Western Satrap drachms I had bought specifically to ID and sell, and I had always planned on downsizing my Indo Sassanians to just my favorite pieces when I was done with the write-up.

At any rate, I'm focused on a contingency plan first and foremost at present. I'll have a lot more spare time to take stock and make decisions soon though.

I'm so sorry to hear this Steve. I was getting excited that you were starting to show better grade material, and now it sounds like a setback. I hope things work out for you.

I feel for you man, I've been there and it is not fun,but it'll all work out at the end,job market is stronger than it was few years back when I lost mine , so hopefully you'll land another job sooner rather than later.I also suggest to hold on to your favorites, I did eventually end up dipping into my coins but not until $ got really tough!best of luck.

If/when you decide to move these, please pm me with a list.

Will do. What areas and date ranges are you looking for? Probably the most interesting to you (which I had always intended to sell anyway) was that bracteate pfennig I found in a lot a few months back.
