It's not a Cud.
By definition a Cud has to involve the rim.

I'd call your situation a die chip or gouge.

Willburton!

While your coin may not have a lot of monetary value, there are collectors of those die chips and die cracks from the KGVI period (1937 - 1952). Because there are so many different ones you can build up quite a collection if you so desire, merely by keeping your eyes open. They'll certainly come your way. I like yours, it's quite nice - and that's a great photo as well. Nice find!
