.....$39.95 would be more in the ballpark

Agree. I'm just gonna sit back and watch this one for a few days after the initial release. I'm definitely going to get one. It's just a matter of when.

Yup...good plan. Probably wait even longer and get one below issue price...

Still can't believe there is no mintage limit...even 100k would have been acceptable

I think it's perfect. An unlimited mintage keeps most speculators away and gives everyone who wants one (or two) a chance to place an order.

I wish more USM releases followed this model. It would lead to more true scarcities (when only a smallish number of interested collectors order a coin/medal) vs. the artificial ones that have been created as of late when speculators and large dealers dive in and then manipulate the secondary market.

I don't disagree with you at all but I can guarantee that created scarcity does increase interest in Mint products that wouldn't be there otherwise.

Do you think there would have been as much interest in last years' medal if, because of unlimited mintage, it was still on sale today? Yes, everyone who wants the 2017 one can get one...and interest will then drop like a rock...

Actually, the carryover from last years' will pump up 1st week sales but then it will just sit like some of the present offerings that have been on sale for SEVEN years

SO true collectors will all have one for their collection...kinda what coin collecting really is...but for those who buy coins with a future they will wait for the next opportunity

It never made sense to me to buy something now that will sell for less at a future date....but that's just me.

I should add: 50-75000 (and HH limit of 2 or so) would have been a decent limit and allow everyone that wanted one to get one. Unlimited just will kill the product

If I am going to lose money, I would rather do it with coins than cars.

Of course, I am not selling these coins in my lifetime, which affects my opinion.

Well they got gutsy and actually put a price on the Mint website over 24 hours before they went on sale.

Livin' on the edge those Mint people...

...and if you want to take the risk out of getting an unlimited mintage, no household limit issue just get yours here....note: key point "3 sold"

I think this is a really nice looking medal, but the price is higher than I was expecting. I'm not sure if I will buy one or not.

I agree with winterfell, I was not expecting the medal to be that expensive. I'm going to reconsider buying one.

It is a sign that over an hour has passed since they went on sale and there has not been a post about the medal

I just placed my order. I knew there was no hurry on this one.

Did anyone notice that in the fifth image the booklet is on pages 42~43? I think it will end up being rather impressive.

Optimism, for the win.

Well, the packaging is much better than last years silver medal, but the price point is still very high. I only ordered one piece. Last year I ordered 2 from each mint.
