Looks like a struck through on the "Y" in LIBERTY. Any comments appreciated

That is a nice coin! I'm positive that's not a strike through. Maybe a Greaser.

That is a awesome coin.

@ Newbie helpful hint: strike through is same as the "struck Through" error It can be grease (which is the most common), wire, string, thread etc. :)

That is a most interesting Strike through. I venture it is not a grease issue but that some other hard object has entered that Y cavity. Note how well defined and "deep" the devices are, this is a very EDS before any polishing of the die has been done. Possibly even among the first run coins on this die pair!

Absolutely fabulous coin! Almost appears proof, but not!

EDIT: On second thought...reverse die shows slight use and is standard business strike. Obverse rim and clarity of devices makes my think the obverse is a proof die...making this a hybrid coin?

I know thus thread is a few days old but I have to say that, that has to be the most well stuck LWC I've ever seen. It almost looks like a specimen strike.

I am not seeing any of the other signs for a struck through coin. If it was Struck Through Grease wouldn't the rest of the letters in Liberty be fatter than they are?

My hunch on this on is it is an over polished die. But I could be wrong.

I agree. It is incuse and came from coin contact the damaged those devices.
Here is one I bought years ago. I've still got it.
