The model penny is interesting. Apparently we were not the only country with a large oversized copper coin that the populace hated.

Thank you all! Dearborn, it's in the Exonumia listings on Numista - search for "One Penny Model". Two types, plus a ½ Penny Model which is much less common.

looked at these coins when my eyes were half closed and they looked great - and they still do today..
