Thanks everyone, this had been sitting around for 20+ years. I guess someone cleaned it a long while back. I hope no one minds, I will probably post some other unsightly coins every so often for your opinions.

Good cleaned. I had a number of Indian cents that looks like this back in the 1960s because as a kid I cleaned coins from time to time.

If you put this in an envelope, it will probably re-tone to look okay, but it will take a few years. It's sort of not worth though because at today's prices the value would go from 50-60 cents to a dollar.

Sorry guys, No way is this a VG coin. There are no Liberty letters and almost no detail remaining on the wreath. G4 cleaned at best.

You are on the money, scstrawn. Only grade-flation makes this coin have VG sharpness.

Grade-flation is not the collectors' friend. It should resisted. With respect to third party grading, we should be guard dogs, not lap dogs.
