I'm not real good at these, but it looks like a match to me. Any markers?

the RPM's from the 80's are fairly scarse (in my opinion). yours lookis like the real deal. I hope the experts can verify it...

Looks more like a split plating issue on the OP's coin.

Yea the scratches don't seem the same as that 003, but there were a couple others on coppercoins that didn't have pics. I thought maybe it was one of them. I'll hold on to it just in case. Thanks guys

Quote: the RPM's from the 80's are fairly scarse I've noticed that too, Dbrablec. I think a lot of that has to do with plating them starting in 1982. I think some RPM's are just assumed to be plating issues and never get attributed. It's pretty easy to tell for sure when it is actually split. That doesn't apply to this one though, because Coop knows his stuff. There's a lot of people that don't though.

Agreed, Coop knows his stuff. I'm terrible at error/variety identification but that D does look interesting.

It's split. There is separation. The D on this coin is the highest relief on the coin. It stretched the plating just a little too much, just on the D.

I think it's both the -003 RPM and split plating southeast. I've compared your image (right) to an image from VarietyVista (left): It's my understanding that split plating will manifest outward on the side of the devices facing the rim. I'm sure it is possible to happen inward but, I don't think I've seen it here. VarietyVista also listed an -009 that is D/D West but it was not a match.
