They're not counterfeit, so I don't know on what grounds he'd try to have them pulled.

That they are being sold as something they are not due to the US mints own admission. It is a sticky situation and they could be valuable in the future similar to privately made Morgans that got into TPG holders that weren't sent back on their guarantee in 2005 once they were discovered. However unless it clearly states in the description that the US mint has claimed these may not be 2015(p) coins I see this as fraud. But then again I'm sure some sellers don't know about The mistake yet and the ones that do can just claim they haven't seen the letter from the Mint that they got the codes wrong.

I'll ping Bobby just to get his take on it but I think you are right. Not much that can be done. Sticky situation to say the least

That's if matter which mint made them? There's like 40 million of this coin total for 2015. Come on people this is getting stupid, its just a bullion coin. No wonder people call as coin collectors idiots. I feel embarrass sometimes to be a coin collector because of things like this. Stop with the label fad, it's embarrassing to the rest of us coin collectors.

There is no way I am buying this statement. I am a stacker and novice collector at best and I know what's going on. You can bet your last nickel that everyone selling this coin know's exactly what's going on with it. How could you be in the coin community and not know? They found out about it being a possible rarity, I'm sure they found out the rest of the story as well.

They acted on knowledge that was obviously not complete and completely jumped the gun to make as much as they could as quick as they could.

Selling these coins at the present time is completely unethical and from everything I understand, 100% fraudulent as well. I think this puts a little bit of a sour taste in everybody's mouth.

Has anyone looked at the P coins closely to see if there are any identifying die characteristics that can be used to verify? Can the dies used in Westpoint and Philly be exactly identical so that there is really no way to tell? Even if they were all made from a master hub, there may be some diagnostics.

@Taphandle, you wouldn't believe how obtuse dealers can be. Not everyone is on a coin forum or reads the magazines regularly. Its highly likely many don't know yet and just the same that some do and are still selling them all the same

Andrew, yes. If only 75k were struck only one or two sets of dies were probably used. If say someone inspected a dozen slabbed 2015(p) coins and half had different die markers that wouldn't be a good sign

Ummm....nope. have to disagree there. If they knew enough to get a box graded with that specific box number or bought a bunch of graded (P)'s from that specific box then they are WELL aware of what is going on and will use the excuse that there was no force making ANYONE purchase their product. They are definitely on top of this mess.

These are not mom & pop dealers who give a rats butt about graded bullion
