Some will like the toning (I do!), and some will not. But what would you grade it? FBL? - Close, but no cigar as far as I can tell.

Thanks!

That's some excellent toning and a great job capturing it!

I don't know about grade but, I think you're right about not being FBL. It's ever so close but, I see a couple of weak areas on the lower lines I think.

Thanks spruett001, it's really just danged pretty to hold. I think I'll slab it, just to keep the toning the way it is.

I'll say MS65. No FBL.

Now that's one **** ugly coin! I'd take my Tarnix to it real quick!

Interesting tone nonetheless...

Whitman folder by chance?

It's difficult to tell the grade with the toning and using pics but, if it is 65, I'd get it graded/slabbed.

Heck, even if it's a little lower, that toning has enough eye-appeal that to the right buyer it could sell for 65-66 prices (if you'd ever sell it).

I have no experience with Franklin folder toning but, I don't think that's the cause (IMHO). At least get it in an Air-Tite if not slabbed.

MS64 or 65. Certainly should get it graded. I am not a huge toning fan, but that one certainly keeps me looking at it. Nice coin.

I agree no FBL. I'm not a fan of dark toning either, but there are many fans out there.

Get it slabbed and you might realize a high value coin.
Rest in Peace

Send to NGC and hope for a star. Stars get crazy prices, even for a 63 or 64. A 65 is not impossible for this fellow, then you have a really yummy half that would probably sell for a great price with a star. Won't get FBL, though.

65 and a real beauty. Pic too small for me to tell much about the bell lines.

Really hard to grade a coin like this from photos. Toning tends to hide any marks on the coin.
