I bet you all its 40% silver and there are more out there, iv heard about the 1967, 1969, 1974 AND NOW 1972 SILVER Quarter, Well we just have to wait for Forum MOM to confirm the 1972 SILVER Quarter. patients people patients

I forgot the ask, did you measure it? Is it the same diameter as a regular quarter? Better call Coin World!

Yes, it's exactly the same diameter and thickness as a regular quarter. Sorry, I should have posted that, but I'm so enamored of the strike issues that I didn't think about that.

So what we have here looks like a 1964 quarter over-struck with a 1972 die. The whole debate over "planchets" makes sense now.

Strike issues indeed!  Very cool...I take back my natural skepticism. Could you please verify the weight, because here's what I see for... 90% Silver quarter: 6.25 gr. 40% Silver clad quarter: ~5.67 gr. JBuck, good eyes for catching that!  If this is '72 overstruck a '64, I would guess the weight is close to 6.25gr?  I'm going to wait for an expert opinion here. Forum Mom corrected post in question with correct weight
