Quote: I don't trust the Mint not to add a crapload when it gets to "currently unavailable" again Your cynicism is not unwarranted.

I keep having to tell myself to be happy with the sets I have and not order more. It's curiously difficult.

Currently unavailable does not equal sold out. There is at least a 30,000 difference between what was sold and what was authorized. Give it some time and the mint will have more available for sale. My best guess is that people that were speculating on this set and returned sets for refunds marked that the sets were of unsatisfactory quality so that they could get the free return shipping label. The mint will not just destroy these coins. They will look at the sets and those that truly aren't of bad quality will be resold. No way the mint walks away from 15% of the authorized product limit.

Time will tell but, as stated earlier, it has been reported that total sales will be just south of 200k. Not worth the effort for the Mint to recycle a $30 non-precious metal set
...and, yes, the Mint does not put the "sold out" label on ANY items for a few weeks after stock is depleted to account for CC issues and returns.

Received my SP70 set today, pulled out the magnifying glass to give them the once over. I picked my favorites when I got my sets from the mint but today I changed my mind once I took a good look at the Ozark Quarter. The reverse of the Ozark is mostly frosted and the river itself is like a mirror, really cool and much nicer looking than the 5oz pucks. I tried to get a good picture but neither of my phones will do it justice. JMHO of course.
