Specific gravity is conclusive. Weight is not because the copper nickel and 40% silver weights have a HUGE overlap due to mint tolerances. (clad can weigh 10.9 - 11.79 grams, and 40% silver can weigh 11.1 - 11.9 grams. So a coin that weighs between 11.1 to 11.79 grams could be either one.)

Until they get some circulation of handling, then the edge can darken and the clad layers then show up clearly as well.
