I would be concerned about the right obverse field. It looks like it's been wiped with at least a loss of toning in that area. I hope I'm not raining on your parade. If it really is an issue with holder, then you can ignore what I said.

Buying Seated dollars is a treacherous undertaking. So many of them have been worked upon one time or another. I have two Proof pieces in my collection, and they are okay, but not great.

It's ok. I'm used to getting the smackdown from ya. You coin snob!

Just kidding but I spoke with the auctioneer about this one and the right obverse field was his concern also. I took a gamble and bid to win. Glad I did. These were really awful pictures. Didn't do the coin justice.

If I ever take the time to set up one of those elaborate photo rigs, I'll send you a pic. The obverse really is the star of this coin. Lot's of lovely original luster.

I think the right field is indicative of thumb rubbing that happened many years ago. It couldn't have been too harsh b/c the luster remains. Really happy to have found this one.

Seated dollars are a tough coin to find original. That new on you got is great, Mike

I posted photos of the 1873 Seated dollar on the PCGS chat board. A lot of the guys over there think that the coin is okay, hairlines from cleaning and all. I didn't show them the CAC sticker until the end. Then they were SURE it is okay.

Grand-flation, and now cleaned - flation seems to be alive, well and growning.

Holy cow, Bill! I went out and found the post. https://forums.(150827) Not Allowed - Auto Removed/discussion/985433/1873-dollar-lets-play-guess-the-grade#pagetop

The one thing I've learned is that we, CCF are the MOST knowledgeable coin forum on the net-period! Most of the guys over there didn't have a clue! My eyes are WIDE open! And thank you for sharing.
