I've searched the internet and can't find anything about it. Is this severe PMD, some kind of fake, or a misprint/error coin?

I found other 2015 no mint marks pennies (Philadelphia) for comparison. Its a strange looking penny so I'm just curious. It also appears slightly thinner than the other pennies.

Looks like it's been run through a tumbler.

Just PMD. Sorry, no extra added value. Worth 1 cent.

Rest in Peace

It has symmetrically been worn down, a "tumbler" is a good description. Possibly a " Dryer Coin" caught in the baffle as a tumbling coin not a "roller" which compresses the edge inward

What is surprising is the amount of wear/distortion without exposing the zinc core.
