Hi kzy - I'd grade this as Good Fine. It's a very common cupro-nickel 5-Franc piece (French legend) that circulated until the late 1990s. In this condition it's the sort of coin I see in dealer's junk trays in England for about 10p (12c).

Looking at NGC a VF20 is listed at $4 U.S.?

No dealer in Canada could ever sell that for $4. They would be in junk bins for 10-25 cents. They are just too common, and nobody wants them.

By the way, your photos really need to be improved for us to grade better. They are far too dark.

You can't rely on the prices on NGC's world coin pages. Typically they are way higher than you could sell them for. In addition, lots of times, they have, say $20 for VF and $5 for MS-60 (makes no sense).

Search ebay for this coin, then look at SOLD listings.

An uncirculated example sold JUL-30-2017 for 76¢ with FREE shipping. In another listing, twelve 5 franc coins sold for $1.50 (for all 12).

ps This is a 5 Francs coin, not Fornit.
Rest in Peace

As has been mentioned, it's very common. So common even a high grade mint state would be hard to sell for $1.

Yeah, this is a junk-bin kind of coin—I know that is where I found my example. For the grade, this coin is quite worn, but there are not many details on this coin to begin with. From those pictures, I would think VF-20.
