 Thank you, Jbuck! For the next round, let's step back 50 years - post your coin minted in 1873. Here's my example - 1873 Seated Liberty quarter (with arrows). Please excuse my quick-n-dirty photos!   Exact match = instant winner (no arrows is acceptable). Points: 10 points for any 1873 dated coin. 5 points for any Seated quarterBonus Points (all dates are eligible): +2 point for any silver coin +3 points for any gold coin +1 for mintmark In case of tie, highest denomination coin wins. Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Ok, this is currently my only 1873 seated coin in my collection, though I have many other Seated coins represented.    Oh, and should be 12 points to start... Edited by mrwhatisit

Nice, mrwhatisit! I had to dig for an 1873. It's an odd year! But w/o Morgan dollars, we should see some cool stuff. Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

mrwhatisit, my father bought this quarter back in the early '70s. I've had it tucked away for decades and never closely examined it until today. After photographing it I put it in a new 2X2 but stapled the original labeled part to the back. Strangely, it was in a flip inside the 2X2, and now I see a slight green tinge to Lady Liberty's breasts. I was thinking the same thing - it could be a proof rather than "BU Full Mint Luster". The fields are remarkably bright, which is why I just did a quick pic earlier. I'll work on better photos tomorrow and post them in the grading section.  Oops, this must be my 1000 milestone post. I'll go delete some of my old ones to get my number down! Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
