Update: triggersmob has smashed the previous high by a big margin.  Only about 20 hours to go........don't let the time slip by without digging deep for that winning coin!!!! Earth's circumference is 24,901 miles (40,075 kilometers), so triggersmob is very close to maximum possible distance between 2 points.

Well that was a close finish!  A bold attempt by mrwhatsit, a 1990 Niue 5 dollars General George Patton... submitted with only 3 minutes of competition time remaining, fell disappointingly short, and missed the winners podium by a mere 106 miles. I was on the edge of my seat!!  Congratulations to triggersmob who is declared the WINNER!!! Thanks to all participants for the fantastic entries!  The Ox moves slowly, but the Earth is patient.

Phew! Survived a last minute challenge from Mrwhatisit. Thanks for the fun round ttkoo. Now to grab the baton and run. For the next round, show your coins with any sailing craft. Points will be scored for the number of open sails. Multiplying factor. 3 x your number of sails for gold or gold coloured coins. 2 x your number of sails for silver or silver coloured coins Edited to add in.. 2.5 x number of sails for any bi-metallic coin. Now take the diameter, in millimetres, of the coin and divide by the weight, in grams. Use this figure and multiply your score again. Depending on weight and size, this may help or hinder your final score. Example for the coin below. 11 open sails x 2 for silver coloured coin = 22. Now 36mm divided by 21.2g = 1.698 x 22 = 37.356  Highest score wins. Hope that's not too complicated. Now set sail and lets see what you have landlubbers. (Lowest score gets to walk the plank).
