Fifteen years ago I put together a LWC set in TPG 58 holders, now sold off. I bought this on impulse recently because it reminded me of how difficult it was back then to find the 1922-D in AU-58 with good eye appeal.

The reverse is weak, especially on the right side, but the overall color is killer.

I think it is always assumed that the key dates are hard to come by, but when you get into high grade circ or uncirculated coins, sometimes it is the semi-keys that can be even harder as they are in very short supply.

Beautiful brown example Mr Frog. I used to collect 22's but gave them up for FE's. Somewhere in my safe is a 22 NO D PCGS AU-58 Strong Reverse. Maybe I'll dig it out one of these days.
Rest in Peace

Smart to use your knowledge to nab a winner. That would never be a hard coin to sell for a good price. Love the glossy brown.

That's a very attractive coin. I'm trying to put together a year set of uncirculated Lincolns, and as you might imagine, the 22-D is one of the last unfilled holes. I've always been fascinated with the '22 No D, and never gave much thought to the fact that the 22-D is a fairly scarce coin on its own. As a side note, finding a decent '13 at a reasonable price is probably the second most difficult among the ones I have not gotten.

Quick edit: to the original point: I've always thought a nice clean 58 can often be more appealing than a spotty or just boring uncirculated coin. In terms of value for dollar spent, it may the the sweet spot.

Do you mean '13-D, I assume?

Thanks to everyone for the kind words.
