These are the kinds of threads that I love -- so much information. I hope the OP returns and reads all this.

Sheets of serial #1 Type 1 $50's and $100's were not on the buy list as the cost per sheet was likely more than Green would have been willing to spend.

When I wrote this, I thought it to be correct.

In my email inbox was KP Numismatic Update which contained a link to an article by Peter Huntoon titled, "How Many 1929 Sheets did Col. Green have? http://www.numismaticnews.net/artic...medium=email

Huntoon has looked at pictures a carbon copy of the Green Estate inventory ledger. Definitely a worthwhile read.

Getting back on track, Huntoon's article points out that Green did own full sheets of Series 1929 $50's and $100's.

Huntoon deserves the credit for educating me on nationals.

Wonderful article, thanks. Serial #1 notes are in a niche of their own, often fetching $2K or more even for common banks. I've always been a fan, but now that I know Col. Green had some 20,000 of them (before unknown redemptions), I'm starting to wonder!
