Very pleasing example.

A slight whitening of the patina on the high points of the design induced me to look closely for wear at these points.
I found the tiniest amount of wear in the hair above Liberty's ear (obv.), and perhaps on the leading edges of the eagle's wings and eyebrow (rev), that is consistent with
AU58.

The attractive rich patina in the fields tends to hide tiny nicks and scratches a bit. That helps with eye appeal.

I would love to have a coin like that in my collection.


I agree that if you are fan of slabbing, that would be good, even if just to protect it.

The coin has a nice original look to it and appears to be a lower end AU. I will say an AU 53. The
coin has already been slabbed. Just a nice looking circulated SLD without issues.

Yea it's been slabbed already look at 10, 2 and 5 o'clock you'll see the holder it's a PCGS graded coin. I am no expert by any means on this series but I do see a bit of circulation rub so I'll say au55/58. As stated trying to find original untampered Seated dollars is no easy task as a vast majority of them have been cleaned over the years.

Eye appeal is enticing. Only the slightest hints of circulation rub at center high points, in this case slightly more evident on the obverse. 55 and a 58 wouldn't surprise me.

The darker halo effect around all of the devices, especially in the tight spaces, indicates a very old rub cleaning that would be market acceptable.

All in all, a lovely example.

AU53-55, I think, and a pretty good example of why some collectors are drawn to this series. Eye appeal at grade couldn't get much better than this.

Mike- do you have images of your Seated dollar collection? you have some of the finest pieces I have seen,..this type is incredibly tough

This one Could def have a shot at MS in my eyes
