Starting to have some bade fellings about the OP coin based on the new images. The die gouge that should be there shows even less than in the original images, and there is a raise dot or pimple in the field to the right of the inner point of the fifth star and two dull raised areas between the denticils and stars three and four that I am not seeing on other known genuine coins.

Here's a couple know genuine BB-27 B-5 pieces surrounding the OP piece. Top piece is AU+ and bottom is VF+. Both PCGS certified.

@BH so what are you trying to say? Is your opinion that my coin is authentic or not authentic?
@Conder I don't see any raised dots on the coin, it is actually quite smooth and uniform. What I think you are referring to is patchy toning (the dots) which are well seen because I over exposed the coin to lighting.
@Pacificoin Thank you. I sure hope all is copacetic. And I do agree, this was by far the best example even if it may have been "toyed" with.
Time will tell.

For example, look at the bottom of the L in Liberty and the middle of the B and the R on the two PCGS coins and compare it to the auction coin. B-5 is a specific die variety. There is not supposed to be any variation in the fine details. Is this from the lighting?

Andrew, you are 100% correct. The variation is due to lighting and slightly different angle of the coin as opposed to the PCGS coins. The light source was placed on the right, a good distance away from the coin, which is why you are seeing a lot of dark on the left of each device/letter. These are mere shadows. Secondly, my stupid phone would lose focus when attempting to take up-close pictures from a perfectly vertical vantage point so I had to take pictures from slight angles which also produces some of the variation you may be seeing. Not to mention that I wouldn't even classify as an amateur photographer so my pictures are probably lousy to begin with.

Seems too even on each side with this perfect light granular porous fields and other tell tails from the tail. Seems Not genuine Unless PCGS proves other wise

Quote: The variation is due to lighting and slightly different angle of the coin as opposed to the PCGS coins. That what I was thinking in assuming it might be genuine. On the other hand the perfect symmetry of the letters indicates potential CNC cutting of the dies. Thinking of how coin dies were made in 1795 makes this one questionable.

Same coins, same order. I believe this piece will be returned Questionable Authenticity. Look at the dentils and overall sharpness comparison. Too many red flags.

I seriously hope that they will take their time and come up with a decent judgement on this piece. There are a few things that worry me, but it can simply just be the lighting and photography. If this piece isn't genuine, and turns out to be a (Chinese) fake, then it's the best fake I've seen so far. And then we really should get worried...
Anyway, keeping my fingers crossed!

@cableguy815, did you send it to NGC yet?

The swirls at the base of the letters on the OP coin appear to be inconsistent when compared to the certified examples. I thought the same thing that Condor101 had noted about the cast bumps, but I do understand how photo angles and lighting can play tricks with the image.

Quite the controversy this little ol' coin is causing. I took the coin with me to work today as I planned to stop by the local dealer I used before with a submission to a TPM. It turned out he was out today. So I figured I'd just wait till Monday. Then I got an inkling to reach out to a local heritage branch I have near by. I took in the coin and the coin specialist assessed it pretty intently and then yanked out a good old jeweler's loupe and looked it over some more. She said that she has little doubt about the authenticity of the coin. She does however think the coin was cleaned a while ago and probably has unnatural tone. She believes the coin will most like receive a details holder, as many of you have said, and estimates it will most like be an AU details coin. She also offered to submit it for me to NGC to which I happily agreed. Here is a new batch of images under different lighting just before I handed the coin off. Stay tuned...

staying tuned... Good to see new pictures of the coin. With such a possible high end and valuable piece, you know that everyone wants to have a look and everyone will have a critical examination on this coin. It's great to read that your contact is convinced about the authenticity of the coin. I must say, the new photos help a lot. One of the points I had was indeed coloring. Ok if it's been cleaned, that makes sense. The other thing I have is the font: 'liberty' just looked too bold on the other photos. On these pics it looks much better. A third would be the small damage known to exist on the die, which isn't very well displayed on the coin. It may have been fixed, it may just be a luck sample... I'm still very curious about the outcome. XF or AU, details or not... if it's authentic then you hit the jackpot anyway.
