Please note:The order of countries doesn't matter in Phase 2. That comes later.

Quote: Joseph7420 also moves up into 3rd and out of the three way tie. Even if it does not really count for anything, I will still take three extra points. ----- My phase two guesses: 1) France. 2) Belgium. 3) Spain. 4) Netherlands. 5) Japan.

Wow, I haven't won a straight-guessing contest in... actually I'm not sure if I've ever did, though I don't think I've participated in very many of those either.
(I think I've definitely won three CCF contests - the "win banknotes" one, which didn't actually involve any guessing, the "riddle in numismatic knowledge" one, which was a lucky bit of detective work, and that old "what did Matthew buy" thing, which was a lucky bit of detective work plus a lot of hints being dropped immediately before I came in. I might have forgotten some, however.)
Can I post the list of countries that I had in mind when I gave my dates? I know I'm not eligible, but I doubt that it's correct anyway (after all, I only guessed one exact date).

Quote: Can I post the list of countries that I had in mind when I gave my dates? I would prefer not. It should be a silent joy, if any. Remember: this lot included coins from more than 70 different countries. If it takes a little research to figure what countries existed at the time, then you've learned something and that's irreplaceable. Knowledge & Discovery!

If it takes a little research to figure what countries existed at the time, then you've learned something and that's irreplaceable. Knowledge & Discovery! Can I at least post it after Phase 2 is up? (As I said, what I basically did was imagining picking out 19th century coins from a world coin bin at a LCS in Moscow. What coins am I likely to find? What are the dates? I've no idea what a LCS in the US is like, but I thought that the world coin mixes shouldn't be too dissimilar. I did exclude some 17th and 18th century types[1], however - they're almost certainly only common in my country.) (I'm also surprised by the "what countries existed at the time" question - for the most part, it's pretty obvious for me - but I guess I should've realized that normal people don't tend to know that much history.) [1] I wanted to link to their Numista pages, but the respective sections of Numista were completely reorganized, to the effect that now there's no overarching page for some of those types - only for each variety (effectively, date and mint) separately

A healthy start to Phase 2! Thanks for the guesses. Quote: Can I at least post it after Phase 2 is up? I don't see any harm in that. After I've posted the answers and winner, feel free to post your country guesses. However, please do not post dates or anything else (only the countries). Phase 3 will involve putting everything together correctly. I want to avoid skewing the guesses for Phase 2. I would be interested in seeing your country guesses, though, after this is over.

A new contestant! Step right up, folks! All it takes is the time to type five different countries and I see that some Phase 1 participants have yet to submit a guess. Maybe they're scoping out other's guesses... There's plenty of time left!
