1994 Quarter Eagle Has No Eye - Coin Community Forum

Spence Moderator United States 34447 Posts	Posted 09/27/2017 4:43 pm Looks to me like there is sufficient wear (e.g. on the eagle's head and wings) to account for the missing eye. However, it may not have struck up fully in the first place, so hard to know exactly. Mark1959 Pillar of the Community 7234 Posts	Posted 09/27/2017 4:45 pm The eye would be a post sticking up in the recessed area of the eagles head and body. If that area was filled with grease the head itself would be missing too. So just wear. Report this Post to the Staff

Perhaps the same thing could have happened with the OP's coin, or is that no longer a possibility with improved minting technology? moxking Rest in Peace United States 17900 Posts	Posted 09/27/2017 7:38 pm There are a zillion little ticks on this coin, so it's "missing" more than the eye because of all the circulation wear. Not a Grease Fill, I don't believe. Report this Post to the Staff
