To be honest, it would be best if I just paid off the mortgage and made that line in my budget my new coin allowance.

With only $8 to spend (should have been posting more!), I would get a 1916-P Buffalo nickel for my dansco album. Should be able to get one in F-VF condition for that amount.

With only 515 posts (including this one), the best I can hope for is something next in my type set. That's too much for a braided cent or half-cent, so I'd have to get either a Seated 20¢ or 25¢.

I would spend 12 hours a day posting until I got enough posts that I could get my Pine Tree Shilling in a VF grade.

Alas I've been looking for over 5 years and am not sure such a coin exists.

I have 2148 posts at the moment, with a daily average of 1.05 (it's been hovering somewhere around 1 for a while, IIRC).
Not sure what I would buy though... $2148 is an insane amount of money. I could try to buy some cheap gold, but then I'd still have $1900 or more left over, and there's no real big-ticket item that I want. So, a bunch of cheap stuff, I guess?
I would definitely try to get the ring (1800s) and cloud (1750s) kopeks for my kopek type set; that's about $100-200 each (I think). Still $1500+ left over. I probably couldn't afford the 1713, 1718, 1724, or 1762 kopek types (the former two are silver, for the record), not even with the full money - they're just too insanely rare. (You can try to prove me wrong if you want to.) I might consider getting a False Dmitry.
Definitely some progress on my 7070 - but "low-grade scarce US type coins" isn't exactly something that Russian LCSs have in abundance, and I probably still won't buy the high-grade examples (too expensive).
If this happened a week ago, I'd go and spend the entire darn thing at the COINS exhibition, which I visited last Saturday. I'm not sure if I could manage to keep the bunch until the big show comes around in 2018, however.
So, realistically? Go and ruffle all the bargain bins I can find. Is that place over at Hobby Market with the $5 ancient coin bin still in business? If so, probably start there. Is the guy I bought the Kyzikos coin from still around? Buy out half his stuff. That sort of thing.
I'll probably still end up saving half the money for later because I couldn't figure out where to spend that much money.
(Also, from now on, if I figure out how, I'm totally going to set aside $1.05 [i.e. 61 rubles] per day for coins. I get enough assorted allowance - hopefully soon to be supplemented with money I actually earn by myself - that this is just about a reasonable possibility.)

Hmm. I should be posting more, I guess. I'd probably get some bullion. Maybe some platinum since I don't have any of that metal in my collection.

If I had to spend the money on numismatic related things, I would just not be so picky when going through junk bins.

Quote: I would just not be so picky when going through junk bins. Sounds like a lot of fun actually! I would do that with the remainder after buying the one coin mentioned earlier.
