They look like possibly roman ancient coins but they look suspicious to me. I am no expert but most of the examples of coins like these I find are in much more degraded states. They could be real I am just skeptical about these. I have very little knowledge of ancient coins so by all means I could be wrong but if I won I would definitely seek out an expert to check these out.

G'day, the text on these "coins" seems to be Greek, and the designs are reminiscent of ancient Greek coins. These look a lot like the repros for sale outside most tourist venues in Athens. Note the uniform lustre. The bidding is already at gbp 71.67, with 39 hours until closing. I think that's about 70.67 above the price you could get them for at the foot of the Akropolis. I'm amazed that people will bid so high, with only basic photos such as these. "Fools and their money ..." is as true today as yesterday. Other items for sale by this seller have the same blurb, but they look genuine. Peter

I was a bit uneasy about the lighting on ALL the listings by this seller, certainly a lot of the GB ones look genuine, I collect GBs and IRISH coins, and the bids appear to reflect the current SPINK rates. Just thought I would ask the forum cheers

Sap would be the one I would wait to chime in on these (or atleast he would be the one I would want to answer a question like this of mine before I bid anymore on the items like this) maybe you can email him and see if he will respond to this thread for you, he knows these coins allot better than I do (which my knowledge is 0 on these)
Edit: I also moved the topic to the "ancient greek and roman" coin forum

A mixed group of Roman and Greek silver coins. If they are copies, there well made.

To me they look very much like the real deal, As I have come to a conclusion that he really doesn't know what he is selling, I once found someone selling two gold roman coins on ebay he had them as buy now and I did for 2,500.. gold coin of Septimius Severus, a Gold Aureus (#1) (AD 193-211), laureate head right, rev LIBERALITAS AVG VI, and the second one (#2 )Aureus 194. L SEPT SEV PERT AVG IMP III. Rev. P.M.TR P II COS II P P Victory walking right, holding wreath and palm branch. The only problem I really see in those photos is that they are cleaned..... And that is a big no no.....

While I know little about ancient coins, I'm somewhat familiar with artifacts from antiquity. I'm also uncertain by the uniform appearance of this group--like some kind of patina was applied. The hidden buyer's ID isn't comforting, nor is the writeup--but I'm inherently suspicious I guess.

I'm suspicious. Let's see: we've got a tetradrachm of Syracuse (#1, counting left to right, top to bottom), a couple of drachms from the Greek colony of Taras (#4 and 6) and some Roman Republican period denarii (#2, 3, 5 and 7), one of which is a sought-after architectural type. All ancient silver coins, all from what is now Italy. If they're genuine, each one should sell for a couple of hundred. I wonder why they're not being offered individually? The carbon-copied patination is also something that requires an explanation. Maybe it's just a trick of the light, but it's a negative point. If the seller and their story about where the coins came from is legit (and there's no reason why they wouldn't be; there's no hint in Toolhaus feedback about buyers receiving fakes) then it seems to me to be likely they've discovered the old collector's "black bag" - their little stash of replicas. Why else would a knowledgeable old collector have these just lying around, unlabelled? Unfortunately, we can't look at past auctions to see if the "we know nothing about ancients" line can be tested, because all their past auctions are private. Another negative point. Conclusion: they might be genuine, but chances are they aren't. The current price is reflective of this gamble.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Sap I totally agree with, and you really do mack a very valid point. But there is another way to really see if this guy is really dumb, So I say someone should send him a message asking if the coins do not turn out real, and authentic, would he except the return of the coins and a refund with money back. In a written note posting it up public, for every one to see....... ........
