A staining of some sort. Notice how even the lines in size and spacing they are. The "Woodie" is a planchet alloy mix problem. Some speculate the yellow color is the addition of unmixed brass(more tin and zinc than normal). No one really knows why. Here's a real woodie on a very cleaned coin:
to CCF. There are small and large date cents made in 1982 and alloyed coins as well as plated. Three grams falls within the parameters for weight. 3.11 is ideal, and 2.5 for the plated cents.
You probably have a cent made of alloy, not a plated one. You can also distinguish by finding a plated cent from 1982: plated cents are 0.30 mm thinner than cents made of alloy. And you have a small date. Can't say about the wood grain, screen's not good enough and I need other pictures.
