The coins don't have this delayed production and delivery policy, so there is no backorder for them. |

If the Mint were to do a survey, I'll bet 85-90% would like this idea too. They used to send out survey's for their customers, ever so often. I took part in these a few times. But as far as I'm concerned, any suggestions have fallen on deaf ears. Typical Washington! |

Don't you think it would have taken forever to sell 350k of the dollars...by MAKING you buy one for each medal at least they are dumping 100k of the 350k Some thought probably DID go into this one..  |

It wouldn't be such a bitter pill to swallow if the WW1 Coin was well designed. I wouldn't be excited about having 5 of the same coin, but at least they would be nice to look at.

I would prefer to avoid duplicates, no matter how nice the design. I did think of another option that I might have accepted. Offer the five dollar coins in five different mint-finish options. We did have five different Liberty medals in 2017, so it can be done.  |

If anyone is interested, PCGS is doing a special commemorative label and 2-coin holder for the coin/medal pairs. |

Mot cost effective to submit on your own but might be a decent buy from a dealer...especially the two coin holder  |

I'm not sure how PCGS will do a First Strike designation for the coin/medal pair though. PCGS says the following for First Strike  which makes sense for the coin, but with the delayed shipping of medals, the cutoff dates can't be met for the medals. If they change the cutoff date for the medals, then the coin that comes with the medal can't be considered a First Strike, as it would be way beyond the coin cutoff date. What to do, what to do? This may be a quandary for those First Strike label collectors  |

No quandry...PCGS said that the Medal FS cutoff date would be revised to reflect actual shipping dates....as will the dollar "set" designation
Kinda lame to put those meaningless dates in at all

Sadly, the first day sales for the proof is 17,287, this includes the sets. I really thought these would have done much better but it seems there is not much interest at all. Although it is probably skewed, that is an average of less than 3,500 of each medal and probably much lower as I'm sure many stand alone proofs were sold as well. http://www.coinnews.net/2018/01/22/...t-day-sales/Oh well, I got my Navy medal ordered and will be happy with that............in May.
