That's a couple of weak examples. jbuck, a griffin is not a lion. Dearborn, a barely visible part of a coat of arms, while lions, does not make this a "lion coin". Is that how you would list it on ebay? As moderators, you two should be setting the example for others to follow in the "Post your..." topics. Perhaps we should only post coins that have the topic subject as a major device, such as the following two. Ethiopia 1 Birr 2002 Ethiopia 50 Santeem

Quote: jbuck, a griffin is not a lion. I searched the topic before posting and saw griffin had appeared way back in 2018. https://goccf.com/t/301190&whichpage=11#2640918I just looked closer to see it there is a lion and a griffin on that coin. I just keyed on the word griffin when I searched the topic. My bad.

Quote: Perhaps we should only post coins that have the topic subject as a major device... I tried to fight that battle in the past... and lost, brutally. I will not take up that task again. But I have to admit, I have come to have more appreciation for the hidden and obscure details on our coins. I had never thought to look that deeply into what appears on them before these topics took off. Suum cuique. Quote: such as the following two. Yes, those are much better examples.

In case you missed it, I do agree with you here... https://goccf.com/t/323063&whichpage=83#4459945One thing I try to pay mind to is the OPs intent... In the topic I linked, "themed" tends to support that "we should only post coins that have the topic subject as a major device." Regarding this one, the OP says "For the purpose of this topic a Lion coin is any coin depicting a Lion/Lions" without requiring it be a primary device. You will notice that in many topics, an OP will set stricter requirements. Yeah, I said I would not take up this task again, but I felt like I might have let you down so I apologize.
