Jmgi, you can buy the old wrappers, an older style machine wrapping machine then take a wire brush and "buff up" the ends to make 'em look old. It's all a gimmick and the reason I just HAAADDDDD to make this, seems like a good as any time to post it in this thread...here goes: As the great sage and marketing philosopher P. T. Barnham put it, "There's a sucker born every minute"

Well see, you learn something new every day, I didn't know that the average person could get one of those machines to roll coin, I thought only banks had those. Must not be that expensive then to buy one.

But, but, there's a seller on ebay that says his rolls have not been searched like all the others. That would be lying if it's not true.

I don't buy them unless they have silver dimes, gold coins, or vdb on the ends

Oh, I've sold LWC's and LMCs with the disclaimer that I only looked for RPMs and the major DDO / DDR like 69S, 55P. I could give a *** about those too tiny "cracks, Cuds or cruds" that some one could then look for. These were "unsearshed for certain errors" wholly true, no pretense. But a "unsearched by us" is a marketing schemo-supremo!

Thing about wheat pennies, we tend to think of them as hard to find and valuable. But the fact is that billions of them were made and even today not worth more than a couple of cents each. But when we open up a roll, we still expect to be pleasantly surprised by something really old and rare! Instead, we get a roll of full of 1956-Ds, 1957s, and a few 1941s. Pretty boring, even for wheaties.

I've only come out ahead one time buying random wheats on ebay. One time a seller had a picture of a jar they said they found at a garage sale. They said they glanced through them and saw many worth $1 or so each but just weren't interested in keeping them. They only bought them because it was a good deal. I think I paid like $50 for $10 face and I got like 10 1909's (including 1-2 VDBs), a low grade 1913-S, a decent number of 1932-P, 1933-P along with other "not so common wheats." Only about 50-60% were 1940's and 1950's. This was the only cent lot the seller had ever sold from what I could see and they have not listed anything else coin related. It still didn't make up for the many times I got burned though.
