The bag of tokens arrived today. So much fun sorting through those with my son. Thank you!

It's great to see the earned prizes getting there well before the Christmas rush. I guess by shear chance I got the dates right.

Glad to hear all of your happy times. I appreciate the opportunity to spread a little happiness.

Thanks Moxking - the Commem. half, 67 half, and 64-D quarter got here yesterday - sorry did not post then.

This '86 half will be an upgrade b/c the only one I had I got in circulation, and you can tell.

BTW - the 67 half turns out to be a minor DDR.

I am so glad to know that you enjoyed your prizes. Even if it's only a minor DDR, it's neat that you were able to get it in your prize bag.

Hopefully it will be more meaningful since it's something you discovered (at a great price).

Thanks for letting me know. I do appreciate it.

These varieties are where the concept of collecting the coins for what they are seems to come through for me. I have a number of different minor varieties I have found, and I think they will never have any value other than the fun of finding them.

I like the feeling I get when putting a coin under a microscope and finding something different.

Earle - if you love varieties, you really should try to find some exonumic (token) type of interest. There are many of those fields, such as State Issued Sales Tax Tokens, Transportation, Merchant, Wooden Nickels, and others, that you can pick up in big batches for a few cents to a dime each, and gives you plenty of fun exploring and discovering. Those fields are not nearly as well researched as coins, so you can find new first finds with some regularity.

Thanks for the tip. I have several tokens, but my love of coins has always been US and Canadian. I have access to enough US rolls to keep me busy for some time to come. Even just one roll of pennies takes quite a bit of time to check everything on each one.

The bag of world coins has arrived.A quick look through and I'm ecstatic with thoughts of a closer look and the research into the countries that,up til now,I've never had coins from. The US silvers and the Canadian Victoria 5 cent "Fishie" are all firsts for my collection.
Thank you moxking for the contest, the opportunity to tell my tale and for the many pleasant hours to come as I enter these coins into my collection.

Hey Dennman,

I'm glad to hear they arrived safe and sound. There were a couple of goodies in that bag, plus a fair number of older but common issues.

Enjoy your prize, which you earned. It made my holiday season even better knowing a few friends of the forum had some fun.

I received my bag this weekend, and my niece and nephew help me "sort things out". Nice agglomeration of coins and a few have been claimed as I expected. The 1839 Dime in aluminum was an interesting item.

Thank you for providing a quality time project with family!

THank YOU Oih...

Knowing that you had some family fun is simply wonderful.

I think I need to come up with more contests. They are a blast for everyone.
