Thanks for the encouragement and suggestions. Unruh, I do have some containers ready to parcel them out. I'm still working on the OTHER pile of coins right now (generic world coins and notes, lots of US prez dollars, State Quarters and halves) but plan to start separating in the morning. Sleeting and possible snow here, good day to stay indoors.

Makes me want to go to the bank and get a couple boxes of cents to go through to help with the jealousy.

Seriously hoping you have some great finds in this endeavor.

First report from the stash: I've found six 1943 steelies, one looks UNC, one AU and one XF. No MMs on any of them so far. We'll call this the "Cyndi Hoard" after the owner. Still separating this morning and having a blast!

About halfway through the Cyndi Hoard. My suspicion is that this was a group of cents that was pulled together in an attempt to complete a set. I'm seeing a good variety of dates and MMs. Lots of teens and twenties. Very few S mints, though.

The sad thing is the state of the coins. Many of the early coins have been harshly cleaned. And, they have been exposed to moisture. Lots of the dreaded green crud. The coins apparently came out of Florida years ago. I've counted about 50 steel cents and most of them are rusty. But there are still nice coins in the group, including a half dozen AU steelies and a few teens in VF to XF range.
